Missions at Grace Church!
We have too many projects to list them all on one page. Our current projects are listed below. The rest are listed in several categories under the "Our Mission Work" button on the left. Check them out. You will be surprised at all that is being done. We were.
Current Projects:
UMCOR in Haiti
Our church has sent nearly $2,000 to UMCOR (United Methodist Committee on Relief) to use in Haiti after the devastating earthquake there. Every penny of this will be used in Haiti. Nothing is taken out for overhead or administrative expenses. Right now UMCOR is distributing food, medicines, tents, blankets, hygiene kits, water purification equipment and water purification tablets. We are currently working to ship hygiene kits, since UMCOR is calling for many more of these.
Mission Team to Henderson Settlement We are organizing a team of about 50 people from our nearby United Methodist churches to go to Henderson Settlement in Frakes, Kentucky. We will be repairing homes, tutoring, sorting used clothes, and other such projects. Each team member will be paying $185.25 for their room and board. Our churches will be buying supplies for the work we will do.
$5 on the Fifth
Four times each year we have a fifth Sunday in the month. On these fifth Sundays, we will ask our congregation to contribute $5 for the work of the United Methodist Children's Home. This facility in Worthington, Ohio works primarily with troubled teens. These young people live on the campus with house groups. They attend school on the campus, and get all the counseling and help they need to turn their lives around. Many of these teens are assigned by area courts.
