Recent Mission Projects - Local

CHOSEN a homeless shelter in Hamilton for men and women is associated with Serve City, and receives financial help from our church.  We also serve the evening meal there once every month.

Christmas in July is a fund raiser for Serve City (one of the homeless ministries in Hamilton).  We donated a huge basket of board games and another of Car Emergency and Safety Kit items for auction off at the dinner.  We also bought a one guest table at the dinner.

Christmas Shoppe is done through Living Water Ministry in downtown Hamilton.  Living Water Ministry gives us the names of children and their wish lists for Christmas.  Individual and families from our church adopt one of these children.  We are asked to spend about $25 shopping for our child.  We wrap the gifts and put the child's name on them, and then Living Water Ministry distributes them to the children's parents.

Cinderella Project has us gathering prom dresses for a new mission we are preparing for next Spring.  We have already secured quite a few new dresses from Dillards at a very low price.  More contacts are being made.  Gently used dresses are being accepted as donations.  Tuxedos for guys are welcome too.  We will also be looking for hairdressers, people to do make-up and nails, as well as other prom type needs.  We want every high school student in our area to be able to participate in their prom, and we want them to look like a million dollars when they do!

Hamilton 2010 Home Repair Initiative This project involved about 100 youth from around the nation working to repair homes here in Hamilton.  Our church helped prepare a couple of the homes for the work, removing brush and power-washing decks.  We also took drinks and cold treats to some of the workers who were working in 90+ temperatures.

Hike for Hospice We will be donating to this important Hamilton ministry, and sending some of our hikers to walk the course.

Jacob's Well is the only mission we limit to serving our own congregation's members and constituents.  This fund is used to help people with huge medical bills.  In the first year of this fund, we have been able to help 3 of our members.

John Engle Counseling Center in Hamilton provides Christian counseling to families and individuals.  Their counselors are both Christian and accredited professional counselors.  We provide monitary support.

Lighthouse Food Pantry in Hamilton serves nearby people in this area.  Our church provides financial support to them.

Living Water Block Party Besides workers to help set up, run and clean up at this huge party for people living in the area surrounding Living Water Ministry, we also provided home-made cookies, stuffed animals, books, candy bars, and other items for hand-outs.  We also sent our resident clown who does great balloon animals.

Living Water Ministry is a ministry to impoverished people in their nearby Hamilton neighborhood.  Our church provides and serves a meal there once a month.  We send tutors to help with their after-school program.  We also provide financial support, loan our church's van to them for special trips, and provide other forms of support.

Mitten Tree actually gathers a lot more than just mittens.  We decorate it with mittens, scarves, hats, socks and underwear - all in children's sizes.  These items are then handed out to children by teachers in nearby public schools as they are needed.

New Life Baptist Mission in Hamilton operates a food pantry and serves hot lunches and suppers to those who are hungry.  We provide them with financial support, food and clothing.

One Way Farm is located in Fairfield, Ohio, and serves as a rescue station for abandoned and abused kids.  Young people can live at the facility until they are 18 years old.  Many are referred by area courts and other social service agencies.

Salvation Army provides lunches and helps needy people in Hamilton in numerous other ways.  Our church provides financial support to them.

Serve City helps many needy people in Hamilton.  It serves as a clearing house for many needs, including serving meals to the people living at Chosen.  Our church provides meals at Serve City once a month, financial help, used clothing and used furniture.

Thanksgiving Baskets were distributed to 60 local families.  These people were asked to fill out a grocery list.  Individuals and families in our congregation then went shopping.  The church added turkeys and other perishables.  Then we put the food into the hands of those who needed it.  A gift to them and to us!
